Getting Started

Start here if you are new to BEC. This section gives you a guided first path through startup, configuration, motion, scans, and the GUI, then points you toward the deeper task-oriented material.

Choose your path

Use Quick Start if you want a guided sequence with one concrete outcome per page.

Use Next Steps after Quick Start if you want to move from first use into real beamline tasks such as adding devices, exporting configs, or writing macros.

PSI-specific content

Throughout the documentation, pages marked with the PSI logo in the navigation or page heading describe PSI-specific environments, tooling, or workflows.

How to use this section

Follow the Quick Start tutorials in order. Start with 01 Open BEC, choose the startup tab that matches your environment, and then continue with 02 Load your first config.

After Quick Start, continue with the Next Steps pages when you are ready to work with your own configs, devices, data, and automation.

Use a safe session for the Quick Start tutorials

Tutorials 02 to 05 assume you are working in a safe training, local, or test session where loading the demo configuration is acceptable.
